About Organic Chickpeas

Organic Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a type of legume that is high in protein, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals. They have a nutty, earthy flavor and can be used in a wide variety of dishes, including soups, stews, salads, and hummus.

Chickpeas are also a good source of plant-based protein, making them a popular ingredient in vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Because of their high fiber content, they can help to promote regularity and improve digestive health.

Chickpeas are also low in fat and contain no cholesterol, making them a healthy choice for people looking to improve their overall diet and reduce their risk of heart disease.

Cooking Instructions: To cook organic chickpeas, first rinse them well with water and pick out any small stones or debris. Then, place the chickpeas in a large pot and cover them with water by about two inches. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let the chickpeas simmer for about 1-2 hours, or until they are tender. You can add a pinch of baking soda to the cooking water to help soften the chickpeas.

Recipes you can try: As for how much chickpeas to use in a recipe, it will depend on the specific recipe and how many people you are serving. A general rule of thumb is to use about 1/2 cup of dried chickpeas per serving, which will yield about 1 cup of cooked chickpeas. You can adjust the amount as needed based on your own preferences and the size of your pot.

Here are some suggestions for recipes that use cooked chickpeas:

  1. Chickpea curry: This is a simple, hearty curry that can be made with canned chickpeas, coconut milk, and your choice of vegetables. Serve it over rice or with naan bread on the side.
  2. Chickpea salad: Mix cooked chickpeas with chopped vegetables, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion, and toss with a simple vinaigrette dressing. This makes a great lunch or light dinner.
  3. Roasted chickpeas: Toss cooked chickpeas with a little oil and your favorite seasonings, then roast in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 20-30 minutes, or until crispy. These make a great snack or crunchy topping for salads.
  4. Chickpea soup: Simmer cooked chickpeas with broth, tomatoes, and your choice of vegetables and seasonings to make a simple and satisfying soup.

There are many other delicious ways to use cooked chickpeas, so feel free to experiment and come up with your own unique recipes. Enjoy!

Plastic Packaging

Our subscription service offers a fuss-free way to shop with no plastic packaging in sight. Every year, between 5 and 13 million tonnes of plastic leak into the world's oceans. Fish and other sea creatures eat this plastic, which then enters the food chain and may end up on your dinner plate. By 2050, the oceans will contain more plastic than fish by weight.

Food Waste

Planning your meals, and refilling your jars, can help you reduce food waste. In the UK alone, over two million tonnes of food is wasted each year—enough for 1.3 billion meals!

Single-use Plastics

While the UK uses 1.1 billion single-use plastics and 4.25 billion items of single-use cutlery each year, only 10% are recycled when they're disposed of. At Fin And Earth, we’re proud to offer a wide selection of zero-waste groceries and lifestyle products that help reduce the consumption of single-use plastics.
